Portraits

Image
A fine art portrait is a picture of a person that a photographer has taken on their own agenda, instead of for something created by someone else. Fine art photos are ones that people take with the sole intent of creating art. This type of art shows a photographer's style and the way they do their work this type of art allows them to play around with lighting and other things in order to make the photo their own Catherine Opie this image provides an outlook on the harsh reality the queer community faces. often times we have to deal with abuse from both society and ourselves, which can sometimes lead to our inner pain manifesting as outward emotion such as depression and anxiety. David LaChapelle -- Behold to me this image portrays that even if one is idealized, they still face challenges. these challenges may leave you scarred, and you may often be targeted due to your status and popularity. Project #9 - Surrealism and Photomontage

Image
These are two photos that I had made for my photography class. for this project we aimed to recreate a surreal style of art. these photos show surrealism, since they show situations that can not exist in real life. The first photo actually glitched in the middle of making it, i liked the way it looked so i screen shotted it and overlayed it over the image that i had been working on. i also mirrored the image up and added a filter to it to make the sky look weird and impossible. The second photo I was experimenting with what I could do in order to make the sky look weird, so I cropped out the sky, and replaced it with an image which i then used a ton of filters on in order to make it look as  trippy and weird as possible. after that i thought that i needed to add something that would make people question it in some other way, so I added a giant hand, there's not much more to it than tha

What is surrealism?

Surrealism was a movement in the 1920s that focused on the minds natural ability to skew and warp reality in unlikely ways. the surrealist works often focused on dreams and fantasy worrlds where things weren't necessarily normal. a famous story of Salvador Al Dali is how he got the ideas for his works. when he was running low on ideas he would try to take a nap, but in his hand he would hold a key above a metal dish. this way so when he was just about to fall asleep he would drop the key and the sound would wake him up. Frida Kahlo -- Without Hope, 1945 Salvador Dali -- The Temptation of Saint Anthony, 1946 Although surrealism is often paintings as i show above, it can also be used in photography with the use of tools such as photoshop, we can create similar surreal scenes that might convey similar emotions.
