Portraits

A fine art portrait is a picture of a person that a photographer has taken on their own agenda, instead of for something created by someone else. Fine art photos are ones that people take with the sole intent of creating art. This type of art shows a photographer's style and the way they do their work this type of art allows them to play around with lighting and other things in order to make the photo their own

this image provides an outlook on the harsh reality the queer community faces. often times we have to deal with abuse from both society and ourselves, which can sometimes lead to our inner pain manifesting as outward emotion such as depression and anxiety.

to me this image portrays that even if one is idealized, they still face challenges. these challenges may leave you scarred, and you may often be targeted due to your status and popularity.

Commercial Portrait Photography is a type of portrait that is taken for something with the intent of selling a product. This can be something like a portrait of the main actor/actress for a movie, or a close up of someone's face to sell makeup. To be summed up, Commercial portraits are pictures that focus on a person with the intent to sell a product.

I actually really like this photo, because of the intense light, and the way it seems to wash out the details of the face, but also emphasize them in the places where the light is a little weaker.

this photo appeals to me, partly because of how soft the face looks in comparison to the water on the face, it makes the water itself stand out, and brings out details. at first i had thought this was to sell razors due to the beard, but i actually think it's to sell water bottles, and the "water beard" is referring to when to accidentally spill water onto yourself when you take a sip from your bottle, and i think this is selling a product that claims to fix that problem.

Commercial portrait for Cloak brand

These two photos show a extremely different mood. the fine art portrait is very Dark and contrasted, while the one for cloak is somber, and uses a lot of earthtones. i really like thee commercial portrait, because it feels homey and calming, while the fine art portrait is very dark and rearful. to me that doesn't really appeal to me, because i've always been drawn more to calmer colours. im also drawn to the meaning of the commercial portrait more. it is just trying to sell something, but the cause that the brand stands for is a loyal one, while the picture of JSE is a picture of a character he often brings up, as far as I know, the picture doesn't have much of a message, but the character itself does, it represents the darker side of him, and that even the most lighthearted of people such as him can snap and become horrible. the commercial lighting is very soft and well balanced, most likely due to him being outside, whereas the other one is most likely taken in front of a screen and highly edited to up the horror aspect of it.
