PDX Jazz festival 2019

This cover was done in collaboration with Kodalev Daniel, he took the photos and i was tasked with using them in order to create a cover for the Portland Jazz festival. he wanted a colour pallette similar to the dave brubeck quartet - time out, so i used that to sample colours to use for my final project
this one was done in collaboration with Mia Nelson, for this one i was able to use a colour duotone in order to make it look older, and the pallette was inspired by the 30s and 50s. i wanted to give it that old vintage look turned modern, so i used that old pallette, but the shapes and the rest was inspired more by current contemporary art.

Surrealism was a movement in the 1920s that focused on the minds natural ability to skew and warp reality in unlikely ways. the surrealist works often focused on dreams and fantasy worrlds where things weren't necessarily normal. a famous story of Salvador Al Dali is how he got the ideas for his works. when he was running low on ideas he would try to take a nap, but in his hand he would hold a key above a metal dish. this way so when he was just about to fall asleep he would drop the key and the sound would wake him up. Framing and Composition Photos

These Photos were taken for a project in my photography class, and were taken with a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS. i took these photos on a walking field trip around downtown Portland close to my school. These photos were originally taken so that they did not need to be edited too too much, so the only edits i did to these were minor cropping and color correction (some more than others). but the reason why i chose these photos was because they best showed the style i go for in photography, as well as their portrayal of the techniques i was trying to use.

My Summer

over my summer I went to myrtle beach to meet the rest of my family for a yearly family reunion. after that we went to San Juan island in my family's Cessna. we flew into a nearby airport and stayed at a nice hotel that was a lot cheaper than a bad hotel in Friday harbor. so we stayed in that hotel, and the next morning we flew into Friday harbor and got a rental car. we drove around and saw the sights on San Juan island. these photos were taken from our plane as we flew to Friday harbor

Winter Formal 2018

This poster that i made was for the winter formal dance at LHS in portland oregon. I tried to avoid the cliche snowflakes in the poster, so instead i used cool colours and a pine tree to imply the winter theme.  edit: this ended up being the final draft of the poster, since they actually wanted a really cheesy poster. they wanted white gold and blue snowflakes, and instead of doing just one tone for each, i used slightly different tones for each snowflake so that it looked natural instead of Just copy and pasted.

Project #3 - Final Color Grids and Photos

this picture was monochromatic, because of the use of all browns and similar tones this photo was aimed towards cool coulours, because for the most part, the picture uses dark and desaturated blues this photo was using warm colours, due to the only colours being used were reds and oranges. and the rest is black or white. for this i did a couple of edits in light room but the majority was done in photoshop by reflecting and moving the same photo over and over to eventually create a wallpaper-like effect. (best of warm) this photo was showing colour contrast, since the orange stands out against the blue sky as well as the blue car in the corner. this picture showed cool colours due to the green leaves behind the rope, as well as the rope itself being a slightly blue grey. this one i did the same thing but it was twice as long and i reflected the square grid to create a banner of sorts.
